Charlotte Prodger

About the artist

Charlotte Prodger (b. 1974 in Bournemouth) lives and works in Glasgow. She graduated BA from Goldsmiths College, London in 2001 and MFA from The Glasgow School of Art in 2010. Prodger creates work which customarily brings together narratives from a variety of sources in multi-channel sculptural installation. Her newest work, Stoneymollan Trail signals Prodger’s first forays into single channel film-making, where digital animation, iPhone footage, archival material on miniDV are layered together, questioning ways in which to block, divide and reveal.

‘The Margaret Tait Award represents the legacy of a female practitioner working in the orbit of Structural Film; a movement largely dominated by men. I propose to use this opportunity to create an oblique exploration of another female artist who is a major influence on my practice: Nancy Holt’.
