Torsten Lauschmann

“Not to insinuate that Lauschmann is some sort of blissed-out shed dweller, but there is a Professor Brainstorm-ish character to his endeavours. His lack of a singular art-making mode parallels a doubter’s fascination with science’s lofty structures.”

Mick Peter on Torsten Lauschmann (Frieze Magazine issue 111)

About the artist

Torsten Lauschmann (b.1970 in Bad Soden, Germany) lives and works in Glasgow. He completed his BA in Photography at the Glasgow School of Art in 1997 and an MA in Media Art at Zentrum fur Kunst und Medien (ZKM) in 2001. Recently, he was one of six artists commissioned to produce a film as part of the Artists’ Moving Image at the BBC project, through a residency at BBC Scotland. His work manipulates contemporary and obsolete technological mechanisms, attempting to explore relationships between humans and the media landscape which surrounds us.
